Gears art a homage to prayer wheels in exhibit
Manufacturer John Winzeler, of Winzeler Gear, in Harwood Heights, is rather passionate about gears, modern art, color and speed. What could be better than an opportunity to combine them in "Devotion @ 50 RPM," an homage to the prayer wheel? Winzeler's "Devotion" consists of five translucent cylinders featuring Erich Schrempp Photography images of brightly painted gears.

Aerial photography contract approved by county commission
A contract between the Marion County Commission and a Lexington, Ky., company, which will be providing aerial photography to create maps was signed during Wednesday’s regular meeting. The contract with GRW Aerial Surveys Inc., was officially approved by all three commissioners.

5th-grader wins District 62 Winter Card Contest
Stephanie Delles took first place in Des Plaines School District 62's 2009 Winter Holiday Card Contest with her drawing of a child who finds a snowman warming his "hands" at a fireplace. "I just started doodling, thought about a snowman and started drawing a rough draft. Then, I drew another and submitted the best one," Delles said.
