Drawing lessons from Frannie
55One local group, the Rock Canyon After School Program, took the project to a different level after reading each new chapter in class every week. According to Chris Fillmore, site coordinator, the after school program held a voluntary art contest for its students, who were instructed to draw what they thought Frannie looked like. Winners were determined by student voting.

Local Guide: Tribute to Indian women planned
The High Plains Women's Museum will sponsor the High Plains Native Women's tribute from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Valley Federal Credit Union Building at 207 N. Broadway to usher in Native American Month. Activities will include dancing, fashion show, bead, craft, and art vendors, stories of the High Plains Indian women, a junior princess contest and tours of the museum.

'Writing with Thread' at a glance
'Writing with Thread,' an exhibition of Southwestern Chinese jewlery and textile art, started off as a bid to bring awareness to UH students about a community that scripted its history without a written language.
