NZ crews to contest famous Hawaiki Nui Race
Two New Zealand crews will compete in Tahiti against 141 outrigger canoes from throughout French Polynesia, France, Hawaii, Australia and New Caledonia in the 17th annual Hawaiki Nui Race.

4-H to have pig roast, auction Lincoln County 4-H will hold its 10th annual pig roast and benefit auction Saturday at the Lincoln County Agri-Civic Center in Chandler. The meal will be served 6:30 p.m., and the auction begins 7 p.m. Tickets are $7 and can be reserved by calling the Lincoln County OSU Extension Service at 405-358-0560 or contacting any 4-H club.

Baltimore's Inner Harbor will get a statue of the politician who pushed for its revitalization: former mayor and governor William Donald Schaefer. The city's public art commission voted Wednesday to approve a more modest design for the Schaefer statue. Last November, commissioners reacted coolly to plans for placing a bronze likeness of Schaefer atop a 6-foot pedestal.

James Major named Dean of the College of Fine Arts
James E. Major was appointed Dean of the College of Fine Arts in a decision that ended his term as interim dean. Effective Nov. 1, Major, a long-time member of the ISU faculty, will hold the position officially.
