Mendota erects Wild Bill Hickok statue
MENDOTA, Ill. (AP) - The memory of Wild Bill Hickok lives on in Mendota. The LaSalle County city on Saturday unveiled a life-size bronze statue of the Old West lawman who was born and raised in nearby Troy Grove. The $26,000 for the sculpture was raised by the Mendota Museum and Historical Society.
