Mother's Day special: With straw and plastic, a one-acre flower is 'painted' for sky viewers
A group of Cornell students will unveil what may be the largest temporary artwork in Ithaca's history on Mother's Day, May 11. Titled "Turfwork!," the flowerlike design covers more than an acre and is intended to be viewed from the air.

On Wednesday, the City of New Orleans welcomed the return of its celebrated family of musicians and singers, who have been scattered since Hurricane Katrina, to the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival after a three year absence. Camburn: Leader of the band
A local music pioneer who was the first band instructor for the Tecumseh school system is being honored as part of several events in May. Clare Camburn served as the band director for Tecumseh schools from 1930 to 1952. He is credited with two musical legacies: the county honors band and the annual marching band festival.
