Spring Grove murals get a touch-up
GROVE -- Artist Carl Homstad of Decorah, Iowa, has been hired by the Bluff Country Artists Gallery to repaint the four seasonal murals originally commissioned by Spring Grove Area Past Present and Future in 1985, according to the Spring Grove Herald

Stop! Haviland sees a painting subject
GROVES — Husband Sam and the grandkids are used to Barbara Haviland suddenly screaming “Stop!” in the car.It means to pull over, because she’s about to photograph a scene and paint it later. A canvas depicting a gate open to a garden is an example in her well-stocked studio.

Fresh coat of paint
Laura Ruby, an Art Professor with the University of Hawai‘i, diligently sets up duct tape guides for painting at the University Ave. H-1 overpass on Aug. 21. Ruby, along with other volunteers, spent most of Aug. 20 and 21 painting over graffiti, which completely covered the walls. Paint for the beautification project was supplied by the Department of Transportation.
