DESPITE the rain and wind of recent weeks, Borgue Horticultural Society held another successful show on Saturday, August 16. The show continues to thrive, with new exhibitors, trophy winners and committee members every year.

Gallery and school plans move forward
PLANS to turn a Kirkcudbright school into an art gallery have moved another step closer to reality. Councillors at a resources committee agreed on Tuesday to back plans for the Kirkcudbright 2000 group to use Johnston Primary School as the home of their new art gallery.

Birmingham Museum of Art wants to lease Boutwell Auditorium
The Birmingham Museum of Art is asking the city of Birmingham for a 99-year lease on the museum's next-door neighbor - Boutwell Auditorium. The museum's board wants to use part of the 84-year-old auditorium or land around it for additional space for exhibits and performing arts.
