Sheridan artist Marilyn Higginson won the $5,000 purchase award for this year's second Mayor's Oregon Artist Series at the Salem Conference Center. Part of a yearlong exhibit, her oil painting "Winter Sunset" will become a permanent part of a new city-owned collection in the conference center.
