Fire code violations shutter Elgin Art Showcase
Elgin officials say they hope to reopen the Elgin Art Showcase in the next few weeks, after being forced to close the facility's doors because of fire code violations. City spokeswoman Susan Olafson said the city recently shut down the venue on the eight floor of the Professional Building, because the building's owners failed to meet Elgin fire codes.
