Easley Defends Wife's Taxpayer-Funded Trips
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- Gov. Mike Easley is defending overseas trips taken by his wife and others that cost taxpayers more than $100,000. Easley told reporters Tuesday that trips like those first lady Mary Easley took to France last year and Russia and Estonia in May can help attract cultural events to North Carolina. Easley said art exhibits can bring millions of dollars to the state's economy.
